At World Lymphedema Day 2019, we support the mission to make Lymphedema a global priority.
Lymphedema is an imbalance between fluid production and transportation, leading to an accumulation of lymph fluid called lymphedema. Although lymphedema cannot be cured, it can be managed, with manual lymphatic drainage, compression therapy, exercise and skin care.*
Exact incidence values for lymphedema are hard to find and vary from 0,13% to 2%** but the World Health Organization estimates over 15 million people worldwide have secondary lymphedema (LE).***

We are an active supporter of the Lymphatic Education & Research Network (LE&RN) fighting for global recognition of lymphedema (LE) and lymphatic diseases. LE&RN now joins in solidarity with global lymphedema advocates to ask that the World Health Organization (WHO) declare "LD Awareness & Cures" the focus of World Health Day 2019.
Essity’s brand JOBST is contracted by NASA to develop next-gen compression garments for use on future Orion human deep-space missions. Find out more about this initiative and future aspirations.
"We want people living with lymphedema to be empowered"
WLD is an annual advocate-driven celebration. This is our opportunity to educate the world about the extent of this global "lymphedemic." This includes lymphatic diseases (LD), primary and secondary lymphedema (LE), lipedema (LI), lymphatic filariasis (LF), lymphatic malformations(LM), and the full lymphatic continuum (LC) of diseases impacted by the lymphatic system.
Show your support and sign the petition to the World Health Organization (WHO) asking that LYMPHEDEMA: AWARENESS AND CURES be the 2019 global health challenge initiative.Go to the petition
Our brand JOBST is actively supporting the Lymphedema Advocacy Group – an all-volunteer organization of patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals and industry partners – with the purpose to increase awareness of and education about lymphedema amongst lawmakers, insurance providers and other relevant entities.Read more on LTA's website
