Overview

Oakenholt Mill is seeking a Technician to join its Resource Support Team (RST) on days, responsible for the electrical health of one of the paper machines on site. The primary role of the Technician is to maintain the machine based on preventative and predictive maintenance concepts.

Main Tasks

The Technician will have strong troubleshooting skills for technical issues with the ability to problem solve using root cause analysis. He/She will support and coach the Operational Teams / colleagues in resolving the technical issues on the machine.

  • Is a Role Model for Safety
  • Is an expert for maintaining & troubleshooting the technology
  • Proactively develops all necessary skills to maintain & troubleshoot the equipment
  • Works towards a zero-breakdown & zero-stop mentality, reducing the maintenance costs including reducing working capital for spare parts
  • Takes ownership for working area; monitors key maintenance KPIs such as breakdowns & has a strong service-department mind set towards the Operations
  • Works to standards, assures the team/others work to standards (Safety, Quality, CL, CILs) and ensures the availability of standard technical documentation
  • Works securely with expert maintenance tools (SAP-PM, SOPs) and trains the teams in these
  • Has a Run-to-Standard and Basic-Condition mentality
  • Performs high quality root-cause analysis for technical and process problems
  • Supports, suggests and implements improvements (Safety, Technology, Process)

Key Competencies

  • Electrical Engineering NVQ L3, HNC or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar electrical function and industrial environment
  • Experience of PLC systems, essential
  • Experience in panel wiring, essential
  • Knowledge of process instrumentation and actuators, essential
  • Knowledge of electrical code, essential
  • Experience of Siemens Step 7, desirable
  • High Voltage experience, desirable
  • Knowledge of pneumatic/hydraulic components, desirable
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong PC skills (excel, word)
