Trustworthy certification systems is an important part of Essity's sustainability work. Below are some international standards that we support.
Essity is one of the world’s largest suppliers of FSC certified hygiene and health products and demand has been steadily increasing in all fields.
We work with forest certification schemes that are demanded by customers and supported by important stakeholders. Apart from Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®), some customers demand products certified to the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification™ (PEFC™).
* Chain of Custody
Essity uses ISO 14001 and EMAS (the EU's system for environmental management and auditing) as environmental management systems. A large number of production units are certified according to ISO and/or EMAS. The company will continue its program for the remaining mills as further acquisitions are made.
ISO 9001 is the main quality and management system used across Essity. The standard has many benefits and has been shown to improve sales and quality, meet customer requirements and improve customer satisfaction.
Essity implements the international OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series) and ISO 45001 standard to ensure that uniform processes are deployed across the Group and that our units continuously improve their workplace health and safety. OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001 specifies requirements for an organization’s occupational health and safety management systems.
