Magnus Groth, Essity’s CEO Calls on action, collaboration and for more to join the race to net zero at COP26.

The climate emergency drives actions from many actors and requires a global answer where private sector leadership is important. In conjunction with COP26 in Glasgow, the Consumer Goods Forum is holding a panel discussion on the industry’s transition to net zero emissions “Net Zero Industry Transition with the Consumer Goods Industry”.

Magnus Groth, Essity’s President and CEO will be taking part in the discussion together with other business leaders and Gonzalo Muñoz, High-level Champion, United Nations Climate Change (UNFCCC). The discussions will focus on how fast-moving consumer goods and retail companies progress towards net zero and their near term commitments by 2030. It also will provide insights on recognized decarbonization challenges and practical solutions, particularly areas of cross-sector collaboration with NGOs and others.

Essity have committed to a 35% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and will have net zero emissions by 2050. Essity’s actions we will require big investments to enable new innovations and technologies. Still, no single company can take on this task alone. Therefore, Essity cooperates with suppliers, governments, customers, consumers, experts, and industry peers to lead the change we so urgently need. As a part of this Essity has joined the UN’s Race to Zero and the Business Ambition for 1.5°C campaign.
