A safe and healthy workplace is a fundamental priority. Strong health and safety practices protect people, support operational continuity, and build trust across the organization. For us, this is not only about preventing incidents, but also about creating the conditions for people to work safely, stay healthy, and contribute in an environment where responsibility is shared and continuous improvement is part of how we operate.
We strengthen health and safety through standards, training, leadership, and continuous improvement across all operations. We work systematically to reduce risk and improve safety performance while building a culture in which safety is understood and owned at every level. Programs such as I Care support this work by helping embed a shared safety mindset and strengthen leadership and engagement across sites and teams.
Fewer incidents, safer workplaces, and more stable and reliable operations. Our approach also supports a stronger culture of prevention and accountability, contributing to both employee well-being and business performance.
Our target is a 75% reduction in the total recordable incident rate compared with 2019. In 2025, the reported outcome was a 66% reduction.
The Total Recordable Injury (TRI) rate includes Lost Time Accidents (LTA), restricted work cases (RWC), and Medical Treatment Cases (MTC). All of Essity's production facilities conduct systematic and proactive work to improve workplace safety.
