Plastic plays an important role in hygiene and health, helping protect safety, functionality, and product performance. At the same time, its environmental impact must be reduced. We focus on circular solutions that use less material, improve recyclability, and increase the use of renewable and recycled alternatives. By rethinking how plastics are designed and used, we can reduce dependence on fossil-based materials while continuing to meet customer and user expectations.
What we do
We reduce plastic use, improve recyclability, and increase the share of renewable and recycled materials, particularly in packaging. Through smarter design, improved material choices, and circular practices, we work to reduce the environmental footprint of plastics while maintaining safety, convenience, and performance. Our public climate and sustainability content also highlights the importance of replacing primary fossil-based plastics with more sustainable alternatives and improving resource efficiency across the value chain.
Outcome
Lower environmental impact, improved resource efficiency, and solutions that help customers and consumers reduce their own footprint. This also supports more circular material flows and helps us respond to rising expectations on packaging, resource use, and environmental performance.
Our target is that 85% of packaging is manufactured from renewable and/or recycled material. The reported 2025 outcome is 81%.
