About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated General Accountant to join our Finance team. This role is essential in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records and supporting strategic decision-making through timely and reliable financial reporting. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor and technical expert in accounting matters.
This is a 12 month fixed term contract role based at our offices in Willerby on a hybrid basis (3 days in the office, 2 days home based)
What You Will Do
- Reconcile accounts and post journal entries in accordance with accounting principles and internal reporting schedules.
- Maintain a complete and accurate general ledger to reflect the organization’s financial position.
- Collect, compile, verify, and analyze financial data to prepare reports including:
- Profit and loss statements
- Balance sheets
- Depreciation schedules
- Cash flow statements
- Debtor and creditor listings
- Repayment schedules
- Regulatory filings and compliance reports
- Serve as a key contact and advisory partner for accounting services, offering technical accounting guidance to operational managers and finance colleagues.
- Ensure compliance with Essity’s policies (e.g., MICR), GBS quality standards, and applicable legal regulations.
- Perform quality checks and oversee accounting processes as defined in framework agreements and service level agreements (SLAs).
- Approve and manage special accounting procedures and resolve escalated issues from Accounting Administrators.
- Identify and communicate process inefficiencies or improvement opportunities to key contacts.
- Support internal and external audits and contribute to resolving audit findings.
- Collaborate within a matrix organization to implement effective accounting solutions.
- Maintain strong interfaces with Business Unit Controlling and other business stakeholders.
Who You Are
The ideal candidate for this role should possess:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Solid experience in general accounting and financial reporting.
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards, compliance, and regulatory frameworks.
- Analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail.
- Effective communicator with the ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly.
- Proficient in accounting systems and Microsoft Office tools.
- Self-motivated, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
